Why can we show you these prices?
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) ruled in March 2026 that all UK vet practices must publish standard price lists. The Order is due by September 2026, with the price-list requirements phased in through 2027. VetPricelist aggregates this data so you can compare in one place.

The typical UK vet consultation costs £57.76, with most practices charging between £47 and £68. That figure is the median of 1,526 consultation prices published by UK practices, and it covers the appointment itself — medication, tests and follow-up procedures are charged separately.
Why do vet prices vary so much between practices?
Location and local overheads are the biggest factor — practices in London and other major cities typically charge more than rural equivalents. Ownership matters too: corporate groups such as CVS, IVC Evidensia and Medivet price differently from independent practices. Appointment length, in-house equipment and whether specialists are on site all add to the difference.
Are UK vets required to publish their prices?
They will be. The Competition and Markets Authority ruled in March 2026 that UK vet practices must publish standard price lists. The Order is due by September 2026, with the price-list requirement phased in through 2027 — larger groups first, from March 2027, and smaller practices around September 2027. Many practices already publish voluntarily, and those are the prices collected here.
